The Awards, on the other hand, are to reward and inspire journalism excellence in West Africa as well as honour West African journalists who have produced compelling works which have had significant impact on society.
This year’s event will be held on October 22, 2022, in Accra – Ghana under the theme: Media and Women Empowerment in Africa
This has been necessitated by the growing number of legislation that tends to strengthen state control over the use of the internet, online communication outlets and digital media platforms including social media platforms. The Conference participants will also explore the impact misinformation is having on journalism in Africa and how public trust in the media can be sustained and boosted.
The Awards Ceremony will be held on the same day as the Conference, Friday, October 22, 2022
