A journalist with professional experience in global and local Nigerian newsrooms, Chinedu Asadu covers Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and largest economy, for The Associated Press international news agency. He is also an editor, researcher, data enthusiast, and fact-checker with local and global awards and recognitions spanning his years of practice. Chinedu began his journalism career in 2017 as an intern with The Cable, Nigeria’s independent online newspaper, where he rose to the position of Senior Staff Writer before leaving in 2021. Passionate and dedicated to the growth of others and to the development of journalism, Chinedu has also worked as an editor and manager of various in-house teams, especially during his time at The Cable online newspaper, where he mentored young reporters and campus journalists in their reporting experience.
